After a successful meet in the Cougar Indoor last weekend, the Washington State men’s and women’s track and field teams will head eight miles east to compete in the 38^th Annual Vandal Indoor meet at the University of Idaho.

The Cougars will compete Friday and Saturday at the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center against schools from around the Northwest. The Cougars will send 36 athletes to compete Friday and 39 Saturday as they look to build on their previous meet where several records fell.

A key difference in this meet will be the Kibbie facility’s oversized track that offers a 290-meter unbanked mondo surface with five lanes and an eight-lane straightaway. Cougar Head Coach Rick Sloan says the big track will be an adjustment from WSU’s smaller Indoor facility.

“We are going to put on the uniform and go over and compete,” said Head Coach Rick Sloan. “It’s a good meet on a big track.”

Sloan also said the upcoming meet is important because it will help as a tune-up competition for some of the year’s later meets.

“After training for so long, we need to use those competitions to get ourselves sharp for the upcoming Mountain Pacific meet in late February,” he said.
