Derek HarrisonMike Leach gave a press conference on National Letter of Intent Signing Day.
Mike Leach held a press conference Wednesday about the players who signed on to WSU for the 2012 season on National Letter of Intent Signing Day.
2:04 p.m. - Daily Evergreen here at the press conference. Should start at any moment now #GoCougs
2:10 p.m. - Leach starts off his press conference thanking his staff #GoCougs
2:13 p.m. - "One of the most accurate guys I have ever seen." Leach on QB Austin Apodaca
2:16 p.m. - "Ioane Guata, but everyone calls him junior. I think you can see why." -Leach. Junior is a 300lb 6'2" D
2:17 p.m. - Gabriel Marks. "A football player in the true sense of the word." -Leach
- Leach said what they look for in their LB core are people who have a quick first step
2:19 p.m. - Leach said Khali Pettway (LB) is a lengthy coverage type of LB but can hit hard as well
2:20 p.m. - Safety Taylor Taliulu: "one of the smoothest runners I've ever seen. He makes it look easy." Leach
2:22 p.m. - Leach is done with his statements of all the recruits. Now taking questions
2:26 p.m. - Leach on WR recruits : "I'm really excited as well... What I like about them is that they are all players, not just fast guys."
2:27 p.m. - "He has the combination of feet, accuracy, and football sense." -Leach on Apodaca
2:31 p.m. - "Greatest class I have ever had with the time constraints we had." -Leach
2:33 p.m. - "Whoever adjusts the quickest has the best shot." Leach on recruits and prospect of starting.
2:35 p.m. - "Yes I am, but recruiting doesn't really stop, it just goes in phases, this was just the heaviest phase." Leach on recruiting ending
2:38 p.m. - "We want quick linebackers. They all have pretty good speed." Leach on his LB recruits
2:40 p.m. - "We are as close as anyone. It seems like a natural place to recruit." Leach on recruiting at Hawaii and the Samoan Islands. #signingday
2:45 p.m. - You're absolutely right. We need to make that a priority -leach on recruiting within the state of washington. #signingday
2:46 p.m. - "I get that question every year and I give a crummy answer every year." Leach on funny recruit stories
2:47 p.m. - Leach's stories are mostly dealing with cancelled flights due to snow and re directs from airlines.
