With catchy phrases like "Easy does it," "Perfectly Flawed," and "You're proof that your mom's easy," Easy Couture is breaking into the clothing industry with designer T-shirts and more.
Based out of Spokane, Wash., Christopher Gray, the owner and president of Easy Couture, came up with the idea to create a clothing company. He said he has always toyed with the idea of designing and just needed an easy, likeable name to launch it into motion.
Gray designs all of the shirts himself. He started out creating decal stickers with his friends. The company expanded through simple networking and soon he began designing clothes. However, the company is branching out and will have a line of long boards and hats this spring. Over time, Gray plans to release a wide range of products.
Gray’s dream was not always to be a clothing designer.
"I was always dumping money into these cars I had and wasn’t getting anything out of it," he said. "I just wanted to start something for myself and I wanted to take all of my close friends and my family with me.”
Gray said he tries to send messages with the clothing he designs.
“In spring we have this thing called (the) 'No Luck Needed' collection," Gray said. "Basically it’s about how you don’t need luck to pursue your dream. You don’t need luck to do what you want to do in life."
Easy Couture started small and snowballed into a phenomenon. Nick Herker, vice president and long time friend of Gray explained how, with the help of Facebook advertising, the company is making sales nation-wide.
“We’ve taken a lot of orders from Fla., Calif. ... and Pennsylvania with a lot of new artists coming from there," Herker said. "It has definitely spread throughout the U.S.”
According to the official Web site, those who do not own any Easy Couture products are being deprived of a truly individual clothing experience.
“We have recently decided to take this nationwide/worldwide and move to the next step as we believe 99 percent of the population is missing out," the Web site stated. "It provides individuality to everyone."
With big dreams for success, the Easy Couture online store is now open for business. Easy Couture clothes are available for sale at easycoutureonline.com. Designer T-shirts start at $15 and go up from there.
Easy Couture is still a young company and is constantly evolving. According to Gray, the current target demographic is about 12-25 years old, but he wants Easy Couture to be for everyone.
