The WSU women’s swimming team travels across the state, as they prepare to compete in the Pac-12 Championships.
The 2012 Pac-12 Women's Swimming and Men's and Women's Diving Championships begins Wednesday and will continue through Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
The Cougars will be competing against both swimming and diving teams from across the Pac-12 Conference including The University of California Golden Bears, Utah Utes, University of Southern California Trojans, and the Oregon State Beavers- all team WSU faced earlier in this season.
The Cougars ended the regular season on a high note, recording seven victories against the University of Idaho Vandals.
In the competition against the Vandals, freshman Haley Anderson and junior Shelbi Luchini each had two key victories to help push the Cougars in their efforts against the U of I.
Anderson captured the first place position in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:38.84, and later added another victory in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:11.92.
Luchini finished first in the 200 fly and 200 individual medley, touching the wall with times of 2:07.17 and 2:08.36, respectively.
Head coach Tom Jager has continuously said throughout the season that this is the moment the team has been working toward all season.
Events in the competition begin today and will go until Saturday Feb. 25. For more information, as well as live reporting of results, visit http://results.teamunify.com/pnws2/.
