It might be old fashioned, but I’m still the kind of gal who loves the classic date night of dinner and a movie. You can tell a lot about a person from what they order or how they eat, and from how polite they are to the server. Pro-tip; if they’re rude to your waiter or waitress, cut your losses and end the date early.
There’s no better indication of a jerk than a person who’s nice to you, but treats the service like they’re radioactive waste. Movies are also a good way to get to know a person.
People have emotional connections with some movie genres and you’ll have a great point of conversation even if the movie sucks.
While Pullman has both places to eat and a movie theater, I’m usually not very satisfied with either. The Village Centre Cinema Theater has lately been avoiding showing every movie that sounds remotely awesome, and the food around Pullman is okay but nothing really worth paying extra for.
To solve this date night conundrum, get in the car and drive over to Moscow. If you haven’t been to La Casa Lopez and you’ve been living in Pullman for more than a week, then you’re missing out on one of the best things about living here.
All of the food is reasonably priced and delicious, the portions are huge and if you’re overage, check out their Wednesday two for one Margarita Nights. The only rule is that you have to drink both margaritas yourself. This is a rule that I can abide by. Even if you’re not overage, La Casa Lopez features a bunch of virgin drinks that, unlike many others, actually taste good and are worth their price tags.
After you’ve finished your amazing mexican food, check out Moscow’s Kenworthy Performing Arts Center for some entertainment. The Kenworthy is a historic venue and features everything from movies to concerts and public gatherings. They usually feature older or independent films, and since they’re a non-profit it’s a lot easier to hand them your hard earned cash.
More information about La Casa Lopez’s specials, hours and upcoming events can be found at facebook.com/LaCasaLopez. For more details about the Kenworthy Performing Arts Center and its calendar can be found at http://www.kenworthy.org. Both the Kenworthy and La Casa Lopez are located on Moscow, Idaho’s main street.
