Welcome from Health and Wellness Services

Dr. Bruce Wright | Executive Director of Health & Wellness Services

Welcome to all new and returning students from all of us at Health & Wellness Services! We’re here to support you in all aspects of health. To us, health doesn’t just mean an absence of physical sickness. We provide services and programs designed to help you thrive mentally, emotionally and physically.

Our medical clinic is one of the largest in the area, and works much like your family doctor’s office at home. We were recently re-accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and received the maximum possible accreditation length. We provide general medical care, plus a wide range of other services like urgent care, 24-hour telephone nurse consultations, a women’s clinic, mental health services and travel medicine. Our full-service retail pharmacy is a great option if you’d like to transfer and fill your prescriptions without leaving campus. We’ll even text you when your prescription is ready to pick up! If we don’t provide a medical service you need, we can refer you to someone who does.

In addition to clinical medical services, we provide free programs and workshops on a variety of health topics to the entire WSU community. We also work with groups across campus to provide customized programs on request. If you’re having difficulty with healthy eating and exercise habits, you might be interested in our workshops on nutrition and fitness. Overwhelmed by a tough workload, friendship and relationship problems or the many other pressures of college life?  We also offer programs on stress, alcohol education, healthy relationships, time management and personal finance.

Our Violence Prevention Programs are another great opportunity for students. Our bystander training workshops focus on making our campus safer by empowering all members of our campus community to become active participants in preventing power-based personal violence. Students can also attend the film series we host each semester to view and discuss films related to gender-based violence.

If you’re interested in getting involved with Health & Wellness Services, consider becoming a student facilitator or joining our Student Advisory Committee (CSHAC). Our student facilitators deliver programs, provide health screenings and help promote special events and campaigns. Students on CSHAC work closely with our staff to provide guidance and feedback, and advocate for student concerns.

At Health & Wellness Services, our priority is your health and happiness. We’re always happy to answer questions, refer students to resources and help in any way we can. Come visit us in the Washington building, call 509-335-3575 or check out our website at http://hws.wsu.edu for more information.
