City welcomes one-stop candy shop
July 1, 2015
A candy store with a wide variety of products from regional suppliers, Palouse Country Candy will keep you coming back for more.
In fact, the store offers 20 different flavors of Maltballs and a variety of gummy bear and sour belt flavors along with all of Spokandies, Bruttle’s, Cowgirl Chocolates, Chukar Cherries product lines and more!
“I was not focusing on jelly beans, taffy and such. I’m trying to be a little different and I carry things that are just different,” said store owner Pam Dabolt.
Dabolt explained that Palouse Country Candy operates two-fold. First, she sells premium products all from local and regional suppliers. On the other hand, the other products she sells such as gummy bears and sour belts are all from U.S. sourced distributors.
Additionally, Palouse Country Candy offers sugar-free, gluten-free, organic free-trade, allergen and vegan products.
“The goal is just to be that one-stop shop,” she said. “I want to be unique and the place to go for gifts and goodies. To be the candy store people talk about.”
Dabolt mentioned that Palouse Country Candy will continue to offer a unique variety of candy, however, she’s also looking for anyone who wants to be different as well.
“I always keep my eyes and ears open. So if there’s someone around who has a product that’s a little different and unique and they want to come and talk to me, I would have no reason not to support them in my store,” she said.
Meanwhile, business has been beyond Dabolt’s expectations.
“I expected to open slow, knowing it was the off season and I was just trying to build and get a feel for what people wanted. But it’s been fairly steady. So that shows promise because as we get into the busy season and next year, if it continues to be like this it will be a solid business,” Dabolt said.
Palouse Country Candy also offers competitive pricing. Dabolt said she doesn’t have the cheapest items but she does have reasonable pricing and sells the candy for their retail value.
For a treat, Pullmanites can stop by the store, located at 105 NE Grand Avenue.
