Tramaine Isabell is officially A Coug

Garfield High School guard Tramaine Isabell sat down Thursday night with his family and signed his national letter of intent to play basketball for WSU in 2014.

“We’re very excited about the addition of Tramaine to our program here at Washington State,” WSU men’s head basketball coach Ken Bone said in a press release. “He’s a gifted and versatile player with the ball in his hands, and yet he’s also very capable of scoring at the guard spot.”

Isabell played at Lakeside High School in Seattle for three years until deciding to transfer to Garfield. The school has a reputation for a historic program that’s won multiple state championships and produced NBA players such as Tony Wroten Jr. and Brandon Roy.

Last season as a junior at Lakeside High School, Isabell averaged 19.9 points, 5.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals each game. Isabell led Lakeside to a 24-5 record, and to the 2013 3A State Championship game. However Isabell and his Lakeside teammates came up short in the championship game, losing to Rainer Beach by a three points in overtime. Isabell was named to the all-State Tournament First team, according to wsucougars.com.

“They (WSU) offer pretty much everything I am looking for in a school,” Isabell said in an interview with wazzuwatch.com. “I like the coaching staff, the players and Wazzu community.”
