The Cougars head into the mountain states over the weekend as the Washington State University volleyball team continues Pac-12 play against Utah and Colorado, Friday and Sunday.

WSU (14-1, 1-1) is coming off a 3-2 victory against Oregon State last weekend and has secured a better record than the 2012 season.

The Cougars will take on Utah (12-2, 1-1) Friday at 6 p.m. and Colorado (9-3, 1-1) Sunday at 11 a.m.

“Both great teams have improved a lot just as everyone in the Pac-12 has done,” WSU Head Coach Jen Greeny said in a press conference. “There’s no easy weekend ever in the Pac-12.”

The three players with triple-digit kill totals that lead the Cougars offensively are freshman Kyra Holt recording 218, junior Jaicee Harris tallying 145 and junior Ver’Leea Hardaway totaling 139.

Hardaway currently leads the Cougars in hitting percentage at .390, which puts her in ninth place in the conference.

Senior captain Camryn Irwin has recorded a team-leading 566 assists this season, while also leading the Cougars in service aces with 21.

WSU has four players this season who have recorded more than 100 digs, with sophomore Kate Sommer leading the way with 189.

The Cougars will face a big blocking team in Utah, with the Utes currently sitting in second place in the Pac-12 in blocks per set with 2.89.

Leading the block for Utah is senior Erin Redd-Brandon, who is currently recording 1.44 blocks per set, placing her second in the conference.

Colorado senior Nikki Lindow is also a player in the top five in the conference for blocks per set.
