Kicking off a philanthropic, fun week

From staff reports

Fraternity and sorority life will spend next week raising money for a boy named Josiah from Lewiston to help fulfill his wish of visiting Winter, a dolphin at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida. Winter is also a character from the movie Dolphin Tale.

“Greek Week is 90 percent philanthropy. It’s all about Make-A-Wish,” said Justice Dua, Greek Week executive board member.

These wishes help children fight their conditions with courage and strength, Lowe said. It provides hope and a temporary relief from the illness that both the child and their family can share.

“All the proceeds raised from Greek Week will be donated to help grant the wish of our adopted child,” Lowe said.

This week’s activities include a window decorating contest at the chapter houses, an all-Greek barbecue, a blood drive, “Greek Olympic” games, a lip sync contest and a Disney-themed 5k run.
