The Black Cypress on Main Street: Best date spot

From staff reports

If you’re going to make it a date, WSU students say make it The Black Cyprus.

The Black Cypress has been providing a fine dining experience to the people of Pullman for years.

“We are looking to provide good food and drinks in a comfortable environment,” said Patrick Hoffman, the restaurant manager.

The menu includes Greek-influenced, Mediterranean-style food, spaghetti, and daily specials.

According to Hoffman, couples tend to enjoy the daily specials, sandwiches and clam dishes because they are all easy to share.

The menu also includes local ingredients from many providers throughout the Palouse.

“That helps us build a good relationship with the community,” Hoffman said.

The Black Cypress also features an extensive wine list, featuring more than 40 types of wine from all over the world, as well as 20 different cocktails.

According to Hoffman, attention to detail and a keen sense for hospitality is very important to the restaurant’s success.

“We try very, very hard to make every dinner experience the best it can be,” Hoffman said.

The restaurant is located on East Main Street in Pullman and is open Monday through Saturday. Kitchen hours are from 5 – 10 p.m. and the bar opens at 4 p.m. and stays open late.
