Workers at Einstein Bros. Bagels at Washington State University prepare food for students.

CARSON HOLLAND, Evergreen columnist

Spending nearly four years in Pullman, I have come to love the campus and surrounding town. I enjoy exploring the nooks and crannies of the Palouse area. One of the best parts of these little adventures is trying a bunch of different restaurants and eateries both on and off campus.

Despite trying to expand my horizons and eat at different places in Pullman and Moscow, there are still quite a few places I have not tried. As I look to graduate this year, I have been hoping to try as many different places to eat as I can. The Palouse has a surprising variety of cuisine.

When I thought about the first place to try, I realized a bunch of students will be exploring the campus and Pullman for the first time. I can solve two problems while helping incoming students find great places to eat around Pullman. Throughout this year, I will be trying a new place to eat each week in both Pullman and Moscow. If you have any suggestions feel free to send them my way.

As Resident Dining Accounts opened up recently for students on campus, I thought it would be fitting for the first place that I reviewed to be Einstein Bros. Bagels. This restaurant is located on the Northside of campus, right under Global Scholars Hall.

I was a resident adviser at Global Scholars for the past two years, so I had easy access to Einstein’s. In the span of those years, I have tried almost everything on the menu. Despite being a bagel shop, Einstein’s has a good selection of food for everyone, as long as you don’t eat it every day like I did.

As expected, most of the menu is made up of bagels and bagel-related items. If you are looking for a quick bite before class, you can grab a bagel and add some jam or butter to it. I prefer the blueberry bagel, but they have a whole gaggle of bagels to choose from.

This shop contains more than just the simple bagel, though. They offer complex bagels such as the Nova Lox bagel and the Farmhouse bagel. They also cater to those more in the sandwich mood.

I have a prestigious sweet tooth, and Einstein’s delivers. The mini cookies in a cup are always a good choice, and the blueberry muffin is one of my favorites. They also offer a good selection of drinks as well, with both caffeinated and non-caffeinated options. Of course, all of this is augmented by being in close proximity to the Northside market.

As we are moving into opening up the campus, I remember that Einstein’s was also a good place to hang out and study when I wanted to get out of my dorm. It is really easy to meet friends there when food and Wi-Fi are in close proximity to each other.

Additionally, Einstein’s is made more convenient with the GET app. For those of you who do not have the app,  I would highly recommend getting it you can order on the go. All you have to do is pick up your order and then run to class.

I would recommend that everyone try at least a few menu items from Einstein’s to see what you like. Just be careful not to spend too much RDA there!
