Tribes, environmental groups to host summit on campus

From staff reports

A number of environmental groups and Northwest tribes will be present for the Tribal Environmental Summit taking place in Pullman on January 31, 2015.

Cleveland Hall, through the College of Education at Washington State University, will host the summit, which will last from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event is co-sponsored by the newly formed group Nimiipuu Protecting the Environment.

According to their Facebook page, the group’s primary goal is to educate Northwest tribes about their traditional tribal rights concerning environmental issues.

A broad selection of issues and concerns regarding environmental issues that impact native people in both the United States and Canada will be addressed by several speakers and a panel.
