Andrew Rega sentenced after felony drug trial

From staff reports

Andrew Rega was sentenced after a trial for six felony drug charges, the Whitman County prosecutor’s office confirmed.

Rega will serve 14 months in prison followed by a probationary period of one year, according to reports by the Moscow-Pullman Daily News, though the prosecutor’s office could not confirm this number.

A WSU student at the time, Rega was arrested Oct. 10 after a police raid on his home in which officers seized cocaine with a street value of $12,000.

A warrant for the raid was obtained after a confidential informant said he/she had purchased narcotics from Rega, and heard Rega would soon be acquiring large amounts of cocaine and distributing it in Pullman.

Police organized a controlled buy through the confidential informant, where he/she was directed to purchase cocaine and Klonopin, commonly called clonazepam, from Rega. The informant returned the purchases to the police, which were identified as the drugs.

The raid on Rega’s house found seven ounces of cocaine, as well as Klonopin, dextroamphetamine and amphetamine pills.
