Beau Glover announces departure from football program

From staff reports

Redshirt sophomore Beau Glover is leaving the WSU football program.

The safety thanked several coaches on his Twitter account when he announced his departure from the team. His tweet read, “Can’t thank Coach Mike Leach, Coach Chris Reinert, Coach Ken Wilson, Coach Eric Mele and all the other coaches for everything they did! I’m going to miss playing for them.”

Glover played sparingly for WSU after making the team as a walk-on for the 2012 season. Despite not being a typically-sized safety in the Pac-12 at only 5’11 and 165 pounds, Glover impressed coaches with his ability to be a ball hawk on the defensive end. Coaches also praised Glover’s work ethic and his love for the game.

The Gig Harbor, Washington native played in five games this season, recording five tackles. He had an impressive spring, allowing coaches to give him the opportunity to see the field despite his lack of size.

Glover made it clear on his Twitter account that he was not leaving the program on bad terms, and that it was simply to pursue other career opportunities. He indicated that he was planning to take an internship this summer.
