Primary ballots include two candidates who dropped out of race

Whitman County recently sent out primary race ballots that still list two candidates who withdrew after the deadline.

Neither former City Council candidate Hannah Krauss nor former Pullman School Board director candidate Elizabeth Siler told the auditor’s office in time to be removed from the ballots.

Krauss, who was running for the 1st Ward position against Eric Fejeran and Incumbent Al Sorensen, and Siler, who was running for the Director of District 4 position against Nathan Roberts, Lipi Turner and Incumbent Karl Johnson, announced via social media that they dropped out.

“I’d like to inform you,” Siler wrote on Facebook on July 6, “that while I am legally unable to withdraw from the race … I ask that you not vote for me.”

Later that evening, Krauss posted on Facebook that she was withdrawing from her race as well and supporting Fejeran.

“While I cannot officially withdraw from the election,” Krauss wrote, “I think we’re stronger as one.”

The deadline to vote in the primary election is 8 p.m. on Aug. 1.
