Looking for a fun, creative activity to do without breaking the bank? “Paint Nights” are returning this month to the Endicott and Lacrosse Libraries.

“Paint Nights” are returning to the Endicott and Lacrosse Libraries this weekend. The Lacrosse Library will host their painting event at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21,while the Endicott Library will host theirs at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22.

The Whitman County Library branches in Lacrosse and Endicott have been hosting a paint night in their local communities for about five years now. Endicott branch manager Naci Selk said they were started by the previous librarian, and they were an instant hit.

Selk said in the rural communities of Eastern Washington, there are limited social activities and events. So when there is some sort of activity, the community takes full advantage of it. The “Paint Nights” allow all age groups to get together and engage in a creative activity.

All age groups are welcome to participate. There is a $10-fee to cover art supplies at the Lacrosse event and an $8-fee for the Endicott event. However, there may be additional charges up to $2, depending on the canvas size. Selk said there are occasionally different themed paint nights for youth, teens, couples and even ladies’ night.

Individuals interested in participating are encouraged to call the Endicott Library at (509) 657-3429 or the LaCrosse Library at (509) 549-3770 to reserve a spot. Selk said there are limited spots available due to COVID-19 precautions.

As for what folks will be painting, Selk said the librarian usually chooses a painting tutorial and puts it on a big screen. Of course, participants can take their masterpieces home at the end of the night.
