A female taxi driver alerted police Sunday about a male passenger who had repeatedly assaulted her.

The man, Vernis Ziegelmann, 37, of Toledo, Wash., ignored the woman’s request not to be touched, said Assistant Chief Steve Hansen of the WSU Police Department.

“He was touching her arm, her legs – even after she told him to stop,” Hansen said.

Police arrested Ziegelmann for assault in the third degree and turned his case over to the Whitman County Prosecutor Attorney’s Office, Hansen said.
