Challenge your father to a manly match

Is your dad reluctant to visit WSU this weekend? Does the five hour drive from the West Side make your Dad cringe?

If you wish to avoid being a third-wheel with someone else and their dad, then there are some ways to convince your dad otherwise.

For starters, tell your father about the fun events you both could participate in. If your dad likes football, and almost all dads do, then tell your dad that you should both go to the game. Optimistically inform him of what a great time it would be to watch the Cougars smash Oregon State while chowing down on popcorn and snacks, just like our new mascot ‘the popcorn guy.’ Tickets are not that expensive either, especially if you already have a sports pass.

I know my dad loves fitness and working out, so I told him about all of the events going on at the Student Recreation Center during Dad’s Weekend. If your dad wants to work out while in Pullman, he can purchase a weekend pass that is good from Thursday until Sunday for just $10. In addition, there is the Dad’s Challenge on Saturday in which you and your dad can go through the challenge course. There is also Spartan training on Friday, TRX training on Saturday, and a 3.1 mile hike through the scenic Palouse on Sunday. All of these activities would be great to bring up to.

Besides telling your dad of the events going on, if you are a junior or senior student you could always guilt your dad into making the trip down to P-town. Mention how you are not in college much longer and how you want him to know how much of a great time that you are having by experiencing it firsthand together. Hopefully, he will take the bait and make the trip so you both can have a great time over Dad’s Weekend.
