A haunted tradition is upheld in the town of Palouse

For 12 years, The Haunted Palouse has scared teenagers, high school students and even those too-cool-too-be-scared college students.

Community members meet each year to consider the scariest options for this Palouse tradition.

The Haunted Palouse consistsĀ of two haunted houses and a haunted hay ride. Each stop is different, with one house focusing on sudden startling scares and the other featuring a more subtle creepiness.

ā€œWhen youā€™re riding in a creaky old hay trailer down a dark road lined with trees, it doesnā€™t take much to creep you out,ā€ said Janet Barstow, aĀ 12-year veteran of the event.

The event will also have a fortune teller, a photo booth and food for sale, Barstow said.

The haunted event is held in Palouse at the AmericanWest Bank drive-through near the railroad tracks, just 14 miles north of Pullman on Highway 27.

Tickets are $15, which include admission to all three stops on the tour. This is a cash only event. Tickets will be sold from 7 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 25-26. These are the last two evenings of the event this year, and no one under 12 years of age will be admitted to the event.

Proceeds will go to several community groups, including the Palouse Community Center, Palouse Skateboard Park and Viking Crew.
