WSU defensive lineman arrested for assaulting teammate

WSU Police arrested football player Emmitt Su’a-Kalio Thursday for second-degree felony assault. 

Su’a-Kalio, a WSU defensive lineman, was taken into custody following the alleged assault against a fellow teammate.

According to KQQQ Radio, Su’a-Kalio is accused of punching a teammate in the university locker room on Tuesday, Oct. 1, damaging the other player’s jaw.

The identity of the teammate remains unknown, but the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Su’a-Kalio was released after he appeared in court on Friday. 

According to the police report, the victim of the alleged assault was sent to a Spokane hospital for surgery to repair his jaw.

Su’a-Kalio will have additional court appearances to determine his sentence. 

The defensive lineman has not played this year. He is a freshman from Pago Pago, in American Samoa.
