Big business exemption

Editor:

Regarding the recent column about the shutdown, some say that the GOP is stonewalling a law that has been passed, but they fail to mention that in reality the Republicans are not stonewalling the law as it was passed. Obama said the rich would pay their fair share, yet exempted big business from ObamaCare.

The current ACA (Affordable Care Act) does not look anything like what was passed nor does it embody the values the president represented in asking for it. If the exchanges are busy, it’s because so many individuals that would have been covered by their employer will no longer be, or won’t be covered even though they were told that the ACA would. In order to avoid fines, they will have to buy it themselves. I would have a problem with Congress doing this work around if the president hadn’t already gutted the law on his own. Now Congress is merely blocking a half implemented poorly conceived mess.

The only truth is that our problems are brought on by our two political parties. Until you people wake up and step outside the two party system, this is what we get and it’s what we deserve.
