Comedian aims to shatter stigmas on hearing loss

SYDNEY BROWN, Evergreen reporter

Award-winning comedian D.J. Demers will perform from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday in the CUB Auditorium.

The event is part of Demers’ Here to Hear Comedy Tour, which he is starting for Disability Awareness Month and which will also be happening at 20 other colleges. Demers will document his tour on his YouTube channel.

According to his website, Demers developed the tour in order to promote awareness of hearing loss and “shatter stigmas” while performing a comedy routine.
An ASL interpreter will also be available at the event, but there will not be access to any real-time captioning.

Tickets are free, and the event is open to students and anyone in the public community, according to the event’s Facebook page.
