Cougars hope for rebound win

The Washington State University volleyball team hits the road this weekend to continue conference play after opening with a sweep at the hands of No. 2 Washington Wednesday.

The Cougars (13-1, 0-1) will take on Oregon State (9-3, 0-1) tonight at 6 p.m. in a match televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

“It’s an interesting week- one match at home, one match on the road,” WSU Head Coach Jen Greeny said in a press conference. “

Freshman Kyra Holt has led the Cougars offensively thus far. Holt has racked up 192 kills this season with a .301 hitting percentage.

Juniors Jaicee Harris and Ver’Leea Hardaway have each contributed 129 kills, while Hardaway leads the team in hitting percentage at .411.

Senior captain Camryn Irwin has thrown up a team-leading 505 assists through the first 14 matches, while sophomore Kate Sommer leads the team with 168 digs.

On the other side of the net, Laura Schaudt and Lila Toner lead the Beavers on offense, having tallied 127 and 115 kills, respectively.

The Cougars are hitting .300 as a team this year, while the Beavers currently sit hitting .237.
