Feast of the Arts series provides the ‘hottest ticket’

The Alumni Association will kick off their first dinner in the Feast of the Arts series tonight.

WSU has put on the popular dinner series for about a decade, said Mariah Maki, director of engagement for the Alumni Association.

Last year, Maki said 2012 was the first sold-out season.

The evening will begin with a reception at the WSU Museum of Art, complete with hors d’oeuvres, art and wine.

The Cougar Marching Band will then lead guests to a “four-course gourmet meal prepared by WSU’s School of Hospitality Business Management students and faculty,” Maki said.

Students are involved with most aspects of the event and gain real world experience.

Students get practice in managing by helping with Feast of the Arts, said Jamie Callison, executive chef for the School of Hospitality Business Management.

Maki said the dinners are “focused on treating the guests to a very special evening of incredible food and wines and to showcase WSU’s impact on each and every aspect of the event, from hospitality to sustainable agriculture to viticulture and enology.”

The event highlights the work of the hospitality business management students, Cougar Marching Band and WSUAA’s Wine-by-Cougars program.

The event displays some of the best parts of WSU all in one evening, Callison said. She called it a recipe for success.

This year, three of the four dinners have already sold out with a few seats still available for the Nov. 22 installment, which will feature wines from EFESTĒ and winery owners Kevin and Angela Taylor.

“This is one of those events that people return to each and every year,” Maki said. “It truly is the hottest ticket on Friday night of a football weekend.”
