From staff reports

Washington State volleyball went head-to-head with rival Washington for Senior Night on Friday, but fell in three sets (25-20, 25-18, 26-24).

Seniors were honored for their last night on the court to kick off the match in Bohler Gym.

Senior middle blocker Chelsey Bettinson and sophomore outside hitter Emmy Allen led the team in kills with 10 each and senior outside hitter Stephanie Logan followed with eight of her own.

“I gave it all I had, and I wanted to go out swinging. It’s been a good four years,” Bettinson said in an interview with wsucougars.com after the game.

Junior libero Kate Sommer led the Cougars defensively with 14 digs. Senior outside hitter Jaicee Harris and senior defensive specialist Shawna Lum each had 12 digs for the night.

UW’s senior outside hitter Krista Vansant led the night overall in kills with 15, and junior middle blocker Lianna Sybeldon followed with six kills and a hitting percentage of .600.

“We still have a lot of improvements to make and spring is really a time where we focus on those things,” Coach Greeny said in her postgame interview. “[I’m] really looking forward to the spring, getting everyone in the weight room and getting stronger.”
