Crafts, cookies, but no Santa on a sleigh. Instead, he’ll arrive on his trusty Appaloosa.

The Moscow Appaloosa Museum will celebrate the holiday season from 10 a.m. to noon tomorrow.

The museum will host a holiday open house to allow children to decorate cookies, meet Santa, and view the museum’s Appaloosa horse exhibits.

The museum focuses on the history of the Appaloosa horse, and its connection with the Palouse area.

“The history of the spotted horse stems from the Palouse,” said Crystal White, the museum director. “That is how the Appaloosa got its name.”

The museum also shows how the Appaloosa’s association with the Nez Perce, a tribe that has impacted the Palouse is many different ways, White said

“The Nez Perce created the Appaloosa breed,” she said. “This is more than just a horse museum.”

The museum has many different attractions, including a theater, activity area, Nez Perce exhibits, and the Appaloosa exhibits, White said.

The Museum is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
