As the 2024-25 school year comes to an end, we honor the senior athletes who have graduated from WSU and are leaving Pullman for bigger and better things. This is the 2024-25 Daily Evergreen senior athlete farewell series.
Eysias Banks, a senior hurdler from Surprise, Arizona, emerged as a standout athlete for WSU Track & Field. After transferring from Arizona State University, Banks made significant strides in his athletic career, particularly in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the 2025 outdoor season, Banks achieved a personal best of 52.53 seconds in the 400m hurdles at the 46th Aztec Track & Field Invitational, securing first place in the event. He continued his winning ways later in the year, taking the 400m hurdles at the WSU Cougar Classic with a time of 52.61 seconds. At the Whitworth Last Chance meet, he clinched another victory in the 400m hurdles, finishing in 53.73 seconds. These consistent performances have positioned him among the top hurdlers in NCAA Division I, with his 53.78-second finish at the Bobcat Invitational ranking 59th nationally for the season.
Banks has also demonstrated versatility in sprint events. He recorded a personal best of 10.71 seconds in the 100m dash at the Aztec Invitational and a 200m time of 21.25 seconds at the Spokane Sports Showcase. His indoor season highlights include a 60m dash personal best of 6.80 seconds at the Spokane Indoor Invitational and a 400m time of 48.78 seconds at the Whitworth Indoor Invitational.
Before he came to Pullman, Banks raced for Arizona State University. He won the 400m hurdles at the 2023 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 51.05 seconds and secured victories at both the NJCAA Region I and ACCAC Track and Field Championships.
