She may not be the flashiest player on the ice, but Emily Brown’s defense serves a vital function on the squad. Through two seasons with the Boston Fleet, she has scored eight points in total, all coming off assists. She debuted professionally in 2022 in the PWHPA, playing two seasons before joining the PWHL.
At the University of Minnesota, Brown served as a co-captain for two seasons and a captain for one. During her time there, she earned 16 separate awards and honors for both athletics and academics.
Alongside Cayla Barnes on defense, Brown will help lock down the blue line and create a strong defensive core for a team that is just beginning to craft their identity in the league.
Next on the schedule for PWHL fans is the 2025 draft. In the draft, Seattle will look to flesh out their lineup and add young rookies who will be the faces of the franchise for the coming years. The draft will be at 7:00 pm on June 24.
