While she is not quite a rookie, Anna Wilgren did finish up her first year in the PWHL playing for the Montreal Victoire, recording nine points off three goals and six assists. Her three goals scored this season makes her the highest scoring defenseman that Seattle has picked up so far.
Wilgren started collegiate hockey at Minnesota State, where she played 114 games. Over three years, she accumulated 17 goals, 34 assists and 51 points. She then transferred to the University of Wisconsin, where she finished out her NCAA career. With the Badgers, she played 40 games, scoring 2 goals and 22 assists as well as blocking 55 shots.
Her ability to rack up points and play lockdown defense makes her an invaluable two-way player that Seattle needs. Point-producing defenseman are often hard to find, but Seattle has picked up three with Cayla Barnes, Aneta Tejralová and now Wilgren.
Next on the schedule for PWHL fans is the 2025 draft. In the draft, Seattle will look to flesh out their lineup and add young rookies who will be the faces of the franchise for the coming years. The draft will be at 7:00 pm on June 24.
