KWSU-TV, which serves Pullman and Spokane, will be discontinued by the end of the year in an effort to reduce spending after federal budget cuts.
WSU President Elizabeth Cantwell said in a video there will be “other operational reductions” to Northwest Public Broadcasting, which operates KWSU-TV. The cuts are intended to reduce NWPB’s annual operating budget by $1.8 million.
The cuts will not affect any NWPB radio stations or KTNW, which serves the Tri-Cities.
NWPB lost nearly $2 million after congress clawed back federal funding for public radio and TV in July.
