Open Access Week celebrated Halloween style

WSU Libraries combines pumpkin carving and cookie decorating with the celebration of global awareness and the spread of scientific information around the world.

International Open Access Week takes place around the world to promote the access and use of research. Open Access refers to free, immediate, online access of scholarly research articles and to use these resources as needed, according to their website.

Because this year’s Open Access Week takes place so close to Halloween, WSU Libraries decided to center the theme of the celebration around Halloween. Terrell Library will host a jack-o’- lantern judging contest with pumpkins carved by library staff and cookie decorating for the visitors of Terrell Library, according to WSU News.

The jack-o’-lantern judging and cookie decorating celebration will take place at 2 p.m. today in the Terrell Library Atrium. Admission is free.
