Sigma Kappa gives back

From staff reports

WSU’s Alpha Gamma chapter of Sigma Kappa sorority celebrated their 140th Founder’s Day, following the Week of Giving event series that took place from Nov. 3 through 9.

The Week of Giving consisted of Sigma Kappa serving their community in several different ways. The sorority gave campus organizations cookies and flowers, volunteered at Orphan Acres and food drives, raised money for their philanthropy through an event hosted at Sweet Mutiny, and sent cards to senior living facilities.

On Sunday, Sigma Kappa concluded with the celebration. A brief skit performed by its members composed most of the night and highlighted the sorority’s history.

Washington State University introduced the chapter in 1921 with a set of values that included personal growth, friendship, and loyalty.

These values were reflected upon before the night ended with a pledge, made alongside the Pan-Hellenic Council, titled “It’s on Cougs.” The pledge promises a group stand against sexual assault.
