ASWSU approves two bills and election board

FROM STAFF REPORTS

At its weekly meeting Wednesday night, the ASWSU Senate unanimously appointed new members to its Election Board and voted in favor of two amendatory acts.

ASWSU appointed six students to its Election Board, which handles managing ASWSU’s election codes and monitoring students partaking in ASWSU elections. If anyone running for a position breaks a rule, the board is tasked with holding that person responsible.

The appointed students include Kathran Dean, junior political science major; Jordan Frost, sophomore business management and operations major; Zachery Kadolph, sophomore political science and criminal justice major; Jeffery Lo, sophomore business finance and accounting major; Kathlene Sampson, sophomore political science major; and Nathan Schemmel, junior political science and criminal justice major.

Bill 44-03, an amendatory act of the ASWSU bylaws, adds a Budget Compilation Committee to the ASWSU Senate Finance committee.

As the name suggests, the Budget Compilation Committee will be part of the Finance committee, and be responsible for determining which of the presented budgets will be shown to the Services & Activities Fees committee.

Voting members of the ASWSU Budget Compilation Committee will be the ASWSU president and vice-president, the Senate Internal committee chair, the ASWSU director of finance and the Senate Finance committee.

Bill 44-04 adds to Bill 44-03 by modifying the duties of the chair of the finance committee. Once the bill goes into effect, the finance chair will also chair both the Budget Committee and the Budget Compilation Committee, and represent ASWSU regarding financial matters.
