A community celebration, featuring local artwork and photography paired with decorated Christmas trees, will help fund The Center, a community space in Colfax.

The Art Among the Trees open house will announce the winner of this year’s Festival of Trees and host a raffle for a movie-themed tree decorated by the Pioneer Title Company, according to a news release.

The Festival of Trees showcases a collection of trees decorated by various community groups in the area, in which library visitors voted for their favorite tree. The displayed trees accent the showcased local art.

The proceeds from the raffle and a portion of art sales will go toward funding The Center’s roof project, according to a news release.

The Center is an annex to the Colfax branch of the Whitman County Library. It serves as a space for classes, galleries and tourist activities, among other potential uses. Currently, it has two main community rooms available, according to the Whitman County Library website.

Art Among the Trees will start at 5 p.m. Dec. 20 in The Center. There will be complimentary refreshments, and raffle tickets will be on sale until the 7 p.m. drawing.
