Florida Atlantic University athletic director Pat Chun is expected to be named the new WSU AD, according to ESPN.

WSU Athletic Communications sent out an email Tuesday afternoon stating that WSU President Kirk Schulz would be introducing the new Director of Athletics during a press conference Wednesday, but the announcement was delayed until further notice, the Seattle Times reported Tuesday night.

Chun has been the AD at Florida Atlantic since 2012 and will become the first Asian-American AD at a Power Five school when he is introduced.

Under Chun’s leadership, the FAU department of athletics set records in academic achievement, revenue generation and community outreach, according to fausports.com.

Chun also brought in donations to FAU to help build a new academic center, tennis complex, beach volleyball courts and the  soccer field renovation, according to The Seattle Times. He also secured a $16 million donation, the largest single donation in FAU school history, that went toward a new athletics facility, according to fausports.com.

Prior to FAU, Chun spent 15 years working at his alma mater, Ohio State University. He served as the executive associate athletics director for external relations at Ohio State from 2009-12.

Chun, a native of Strongsville, Ohio, received a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State in 1997 and a master’s degree in sports leadership from Duquesne University.

The Cougars AD position became vacant Oct. 15 when Bill Moos left Pullman to become the athletic director at the University of Nebraska. The Cornhuskers signed him to a five-year contract with a base annual salary of $1 million, plus incentives.

Senior Associate Director of Athletics John Johnson served as the interim AD during the search process.
