Rapper MadeinTYO, pronounced as “Made in Tokyo,” takes influence from his upbringing. According to his online biography, he moved around frequently until his family landed in Tokyo during the start of his high school years. Influenced by the foreign culture around him and inspired by his brother 24HRS, MadeinTYO began to take music seriously.
Since then, MadeinTYO has had success on SoundCloud. He has released hit songs “Uber Everywhere” featuring Travis Scott and “Skateboard P” featuring Big Sean.
The Student Entertainment Board will host MadeinTYO from 7-10 p.m. Saturday in the CUB Senior Ballroom.
“He’s an XXL Freshman rapper for 2017,” SEB Concerts Programmer Julian Khalifa said.
This edition of the magazine showcases up-and-coming rappers that have never been mentioned in XXL before, Khalifa said.
Tickets cost $19 at the door for WSU students who bring their Cougar Cards, and general admission is $29. SEB sells tickets in advance on its website, on the event’s Facebook page and through Purple Pass.
