After losing six assistant coaches during the offseason, WSU football filled its final remaining position by hiring Steve Spurrier Jr. as its outside receivers coach, according to The Seattle Times.

Spurrier Jr. is the son of former Florida University and University of South Carolina University Head Coach Steve Spurrier. Spurrier Jr. replaces former outside receivers coach Derek Sage, who left Pullman to join the staff at University of California, Los Angeles.

Spurrier Jr. comes to WSU after serving as the assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach at Western Kentucky University this past season.

Prior to Western Kentucky, Spurrier Jr. was the offensive and recruiting specialist at Oklahoma University for one season and the co-offensive coordinator under his father at South Carolina from 2012-15.
