WSU Press opens doors for Mom’s Weekend book sale

WSU Press, which focuses on publishing titles close to home and bringing histories and culture from the Pacific Northwest, is hosting the Mom’s Weekend Spring Book Sale on Friday and Saturday.

This exciting event is being organized by Kerry Darnall, who is in charge of order fulfillment and editing for the WSU Press.

The book sale will include over 100 different titles available for purchase, including WSU Press’s most recently published books. The prices start at just $5, with the newer books being 30 percent off and slightly damaged books being up to 50-70 percent off, making this sale a great opportunity to add books to your collection.

“WSU Press tells unique, focused stories of the Northwest — lesser-known yet fascinating accounts of people, places and events in the region’s history or culture,” Darnall said. “Our books cover the history, culture and science of the Pacific Northwest.”

The focus of the book sale is mainly on history, cooking and politics, but many other books will be available for sale as well.

“Once a year, we open our slightly damaged inventory for sale to the public,” Darnall said. “This is an excellent time to stock up on books that have minor cosmetic damage.”

Some of the books that will be available include “Protest on trial: The Seattle 7 Conspiracy” by Kit Bakke and bestseller “Spirit in the Rock: The Fierce Battle for Modoc Homelands,” which received outstanding reviews from many websites and newspapers alike, including the Wall Street Journal.

The titles the WSU Press Spring Book Sale will be selling are available at bookstores across the region. But with this unique event gives people the opportunity to browse and see the books all in one location. All proceeds from the book sale will go toward supporting the hard work of the WSU Press, which publishes eight to 10 books a year.

The event will run from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Cooper Publishing Building, located at 2300 Grimes Way.
