Valhalla will host its 20th annual Winefest on Saturday, giving Cougs and their moms a place to enjoy wine tasting this weekend.

After receiving a custom-etched glass and a rose for mothers, attendees will make their way downstairs, where wines from across the Pacific Northwest and the world — as well as meats, cheeses and desserts — will be available, manager Shane Snyder said.

Guests will receive a set of tickets to use to taste the different wines of their choice. He said those tickets are put into a raffle to win a bottle of the wine they tasted.

The bar will remain open upstairs, but patrons cannot go downstairs, where Winefest will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m., without a ticket.

Snyder said the bar and grill began selling entry tickets, which cost $37, a few weeks ago and will continue to sell them at the door as long as supplies last. But Winefest draws a large crowd, he said, and tickets usually sell out before the day of the event.

“This is our 20th year doing this thing,” he said, “and every year moms and sons and daughters come up and tell us how much of a good time they had.”
