Phone scam targets Pullman residents

From staff reports

PULLMAN – Police have received at least six calls recently about a phone scam that targets locals for money.

Reports describe a man with a foreign accent who claims to represent the Internal Revenue Service. The caller tells residents they owe money to the IRS and will be arrested if they don’t send money to a specified address.

Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said people should know if they owe money to the IRS and advised everyone to ignore scam phone calls.

“Just use your common sense, and don’t be pressured to send money anywhere,” he said.
