In downtown Pullman, another roar of theater has come to boom this week and weekend. Regional Theatre of the Palouse is putting on the musical “Fiddler on the Roof,” a timeless classic that few will fail to recognize, with songs like “If I Were a Rich Man” and “Matchmaker.”

Telling the story of Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman in the Russian town of Anatevka, “Fiddler on the Roof” follows his journey as he attempts to uphold his traditions among his family in a changing world. According to Tevye in the opening of the show, this can be “as precarious as a fiddler on the roof.”

“As the characters overcome obstacles in their journey for happiness, audience members will be touched by the humor, warmth and honesty showcased throughout the show,” Associate Director Michael Todd wrote in a news release.

“Fiddler on the Roof” shares messages that cut through barriers of race, class and religion. As each character navigates their own path, they fight for and against their own traditions and family.

RTOP will be performing its production of this classic musical through Sunday, when the show will close. Located in downtown Pullman next to Rico’s Public House, the theater has its showings at 7:30 p.m. each night, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20. Space is limited, so seats are first come, first served.
