Man arrested after break-in, defecation at College Hill apartment

From staff reports

PULLMAN – A half-naked man was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly broke into a College Hill apartment, assaulted several people and defecated in the residence.

The suspect, later identified as Levi B. Gentry, 23, was seen in the Churchill Downs area, allegedly not wearing pants and handling a bike that was not his. A resident who approached Gentry told police Gentry punched him in the throat and ran away.

Gentry allegedly broke into the unit, which was occupied by a female resident, and tore down the shower curtain in her bathroom. Neighbors helped to subdue the suspect after hearing screams from the apartment.

“The Samaritans beat him with a shower rod and sat on him until police got there,” Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said. “We found his pants outside had been defecated in, and he defecated all over the apartment.”

Gentry was incoherent due to intoxication, Tennant said, noting he does not think the crimes were sexually motivated.

Police booked Gentry into the Whitman County Jail on charges of resisting arrest, third-degree malicious mischief, first-degree burglary and three counts of fourth-degree assault.
