Harkins gets chance to play at FIFA World Cup

WSU freshman soccer forward Chelsea Harkins is vying for a spot on the team that will compete at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Harkins, a native of Surrey, British Columbia, has been invited to the Canada U-20 National Team Camp. The World Cup will take place from Aug. 5 to Aug. 24 at several locations in Canada.

During her time with the U-18 Women’s Whitecaps Elite Program, the team won the women’s premiere league, McAdams Cup and the 2012-13 PCL championships. She was named MVP after scoring four goals in the PCL final. With Harkins aboard, British Columbia’s team won the Canada Games national championship.
