Man accused of child rape pleads not guilty

From staff reports

A Pullman man accused of child rape has pleaded not guilty in Whitman County Superior Court.

Deputies from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office arrested Abdullatif Arishi, 40, on May 4 following allegations he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl earlier in the year.

Arishi entered his plea on May 16. He has been released after posting a $10,000 bond.

The victim said she originally met Arishi on the internet chat site “Badoo.” She also reported she felt pressured by Arishi, who told her he came from a wealthy family and wanted her to be his wife.

Arishi was booked into the Whitman County Jail on charges of third-degree rape of a child, third-degree child molestation, and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
