Two arrested in marijuana grow operation; 410 plants discovered

From staff reports

Detectives located 410 marijuana plants and a small amount of packaged methamphetamine Wednesday morning during the execution of two search warrants in Whitman County.

Two men were arrested for their involvement in a large marijuana grow operation that has been under “lengthy investigation,” according to a press release by Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers.

One bust took place at a location near Dusty, Wash., and another took place on the 200 block of Timothy Street in Pullman.

Peter Manning, 49, of Dusty was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana), and Mark Brown, 46, of Pullman was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Both men are set to have their first appearances Thursday afternoon in Whitman County Superior Court.

Detectives from the Quad Cities Drug Task Force were assisted by officers from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office and the Pullman Police Department in executing the search warrants, which were part of the same investigation.

The officers and detectives also discovered packaging materials, scales and other equipment associated with the manufacture and distribution of marijuana at the residence near Dusty.
