Police search for missing link among stolen items

From staff reports

About fourteen model train engines, each valued at approximately $200, are missing from a Pullman storage unit after a burglary that occurred sometime in the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, officials from the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office are investigating how an envelope of pictures, presumably from the same unit, ended up in the middle of 13th Street in Clarkston.

The renter of the Cougar’s Closet storage unit reported his train engines missing along with other items Sunday evening to the Pullman Police Department.

According to one official, investigators from the sheriff’s office called the man about two weeks ago after they identified the license plate on his motorcycle, which appears in one of the photographs. They presumed the envelope had fallen off the back of that motorcycle as the man traveled through Clarkston.

Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said the lock on the storage unit was broken during the burglary and replaced with another broken lock.
