Cougar tennis takes a swing at Oregon in home finale

From staff reports

The Cougars take the court in Pullman for the final time this season, signifying the last hoorah for seniors Olga Musilovich and Emily Funabiki.

The Oregon Ducks come to town to face the No. 45 ranked Washington State tennis team tomorrow morning on the outdoor tennis courts.

WSU (17-10, 2-7 Pac-12) will conclude their regular season Saturday against the Ducks (7-13, 1-8 Pac-12).

The Cougars look to bounce back from last weekend’s losses at the hands of Pac-12 foes California and Stanford.

“I am so proud of what they have overcome this season and all we have achieved,” Hart said. “They always give their best and are always looking to improve.  They have done everything we have asked this year and they deserve a win on Saturday.”

Oregon is currently on a six-game losing streak and hasn’t won a singles match since the March 26 match against UNLV. The Ducks visit Moscow, Idaho, today to take on the Vandals before the 1 p.m. match tomorrow against WSU.

The last three victories between WSU and Oregon belong to the Cougars.

“Our players have battled all season and have stayed positive,” Head Coach Lisa Hart said.  “As a coach, this year has been a memorable and rewarding one.  Our goal for this weekend is to get a win for our seniors and finish the regular season strong.”
