Whether students and Pullman residents realize it or not, there are dozens of entertainment opportunities going on in Pullman and Moscow at any given time — just look and you can find them.

Tawny Szumlas, owner of Rico’s Public House, hosts Music on Main, a series of live music performances in downtown Pullman.

“Students need to know how many opportunities there are for great live music and entertainment,” Szumlas said. “There’s just so many places and venues around here to get out.”

The band Paradox will be featured for the next performance at Music on Main on Thursday.

Paradox is a six-piece cover band from Moscow, Idaho. Listeners can expect to hear a variety of familiar tunes, including rock, pop, country, and folk hits from the 50s to the 90s. They will also be playing covers of current songs.

“I think one of the things people like about Paradox is we don’t sound the same all the time,” said Tom Preston, a professor at WSU and a member of Paradox.

“[The idea of Music on Main] is to encourage people to come down to Main Street, support local businesses, and make more of a vibrant music community in Pullman,” Preston said.

Those interested can see Paradox performing at the open-air square south of Rico’s for free at 6 p.m. Thursday.
