WSU defensive lineman pleads guilty to assault

From staff reports

WSU defensive lineman Emmitt Su’a-Kalio pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault Friday in Whitman County Superior Court after being arrested last October for punching a teammate in the locker room.

Su’a-Kalio, 18, was sentenced to 240 hours of community service and 12 months of unsupervised probation.

On Oct. 3, two days after the assault, Su’a-Kalio was taken to the WSU Police station with the cooperation of his coaches. Police booked him for second-degree assault, a charge to which he pleaded not guilty in February.

Witnesses have identified the victim as freshman quarterback Domenic Rockey, who underwent surgery that left his jaw wired shut.
